We have the project for it!
The choir Vocalis invites you to participate in its bilingual choir project "Missa Latina" by Bobbi Fischer. We are especially pleased that the composer Bobbi Fischer himself will play the piano part.
The Project
We would also like to attract people with no knowledge of German to the project and therefore conduct it bilingually in German and English; the Mass itself is written in Latin. To make it easier to get started, there is a designated contact person in each voice register who supports the project participants.
With this project, the Chorvereinigung Bissingen/Enz e.V. and its choir Vocalis would also like to offer a platform for integration and exchange between people of different origins.
The bilingual choir project "Missa Latina" will start on January 22, 2024 with the first choir rehearsal. In the course of the project, the "Missa Latina" by Bobbi Fischer will be rehearsed and presented to the public in a concert on June 30, 2024. The project will end with a internal closing party on July 1, 2024.
The first part of the concert will include other pieces from the repertoire of Vocalis as well as the band.
The composition "Missa Latina" by Bobbi Fischer
"The Missa Latina is a complete Latin mass composition for solo soprano, large mixed choir (SATB with voice divisions as well as choir solos) and a band consisting of violin, bandoneon (accordion), piano, double bass, drums and percussion. The word "latina" refers not only to the Latin text, but also to the musical style, which is based on Latin American rhythms. Elements of Argentine tango stand alongside Caribbean rhythms and Latin jazz, with instrumental improvisations also finding space." [Carus-Verlag, 2023 Oct 3] 1)
The publisher classifies the work as difficulty level 4 out of a total of 5. Thus, this composition is also a challenge for the singers.
The work "Missa Latina" was commissioned by the Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 for the choir of the International Choir Festival C.H.O.I.R..
How can I participate?
First of all, you should schedule the time for the project. 80% of the rehearsals, as well as the participation in the dress rehearsal are obligatory.
You register for the project in writing at our contact address by December 15.
If you want to participate on short notice, just come to the first rehearsal date.
